Plumb-line axial drilling jig

This setup was developed to drill aligned holes at both ends of irregular coppiced branches (even requiring a temporary modification to the studio drill press).

Coppiced timber, even when well managed, is never perfectly straight. Its natural curves and variations are part of its value, but they also make precise operations more challenging.

Using plumb lines as gravity-based guides, the system helped align each branch so that both holes follow the same axis. Despite the natural curvature, this method ensured accurate connector placement along a shared line.
