About

What Grows Again promotes the use of locally grown coppiced wood in small-scale structures, spatial interventions, and crafted artefacts, demonstrating how regenerative forestry can inform contemporary design and making.

A key part of the project is the development of a modular connector system for coppiced timber, testing its potential as an alternative to low-cost industrial wood for simple structures and installations. The adaptable joint system accommodates the natural variation of coppiced poles, enabling flexible assemblies.

Alongside this system, the project launched an open call inviting makers and designers to respond to coppiced wood through their own practice. The resulting artefacts are presented within the structure, creating a shared learning environment that reconnects material, place, and people while fostering dialogue between forestry, design, and public space.

What Grows Again is Antoine Léger’s final master’s project;
Unit 3: Material Impact.
